Carver State Bank has a proud and enduring legacy rooted in the Savannah community. Founded in 1927, Carver is the only commercial bank headquartered in the Savannah area and one of just 25 African American–owned banks in the United States. It is also the only bank in Savannah certified by the U.S. Department of the Treasury as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).

Carver is uniquely situated as the only bank headquartered in one of Savannah’s five low-income census tracts — underscoring its mission To Provide the Building Blocks to Financial Freedom. This mission reflects the bank’s deep commitment to improving the lives of low-income individuals and residents of underserved communities.

Carver is an active member of several national and state-level industry associations, including the National Bankers Association, American Bankers Association, Community Development Bankers Association, and Georgia Bankers Association.
